About

A conversation with director Luiz Fernando Carvalho and Britta Egetemeier, Publisher at Penguin Verlag and Member of the Board Penguin Random House Germany, moderated by journalist Talita Facchini on the adaptation of ‘The Passion According to G.H.’ from Clarice Lispector.

At the end of 2023, the audiovisual adaptation of Clarice Lispector's novel was released, directed by Luiz Fernando Carvalho, adapted by Melina Dalboni, and starring Maria Fernanda Cândido. With its significant recognition and awards at the São Paulo International Film Festival (2023), the International Film Festival Rotterdam (2023), the 25th BAFICI in Buenos Aires (2024), FILMADRID (2024), and its German premiere at the Deutsches Filmmuseum in Frankfurt during the Book Fair (2025), the film is a great success.

The conversation will focus on understanding how Clarice is viewed and worked on by the publisher in Germany, the director's work, the creative and collaborative process, and pursuit of a visceral dialogue between literature and cinema.
