Katniss Hsiao’s thriller “Before We Were Monsters” about a crime scene cleaner with a particular sense of smell, who has to find a killer in order to clear her name, has appeared in German translation at Suhrkamp under the title “Das Parfüm des Todes” (“The Perfume of Death”). The author and her German translator will read excerpts from the novel and enlighten the audience on the background of their writing and translation processes.
