Programme Manager TRANSLATING CHILE (Translation and Printing Grants for Foreign Publishers): Since 2017, the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its Division of Cultures, Arts, Heritage and Public Diplomacy (DIRAC), has supported and granted projects for the translation of Chilean literature.
The purpose of this fund is to finance, whether totally or partially, projects of Foreign Publishers that seek to translate and printing Chilean literature works, whether fiction or non-fiction in the following genres: novel, short story, poetry, essay, graphic novel, children and youth literature, dramaturgy, and memory writings. The call for projects is annual and it aims exclusively at foreign publishing houses.
The Terms and Conditions and the Application Form are available at the website www.dirac.gob.cl Works to be translated must be from Chilean authors, and have been previously published. In the case of illustrated books and graphic novels, applications can be accepted in which a Chilean author and foreign author share the copyright. The amount requested for the translation and printing shall not exceed five thousand US dollars (US$ 5,000). The next call for 2026-2027 will be open in November 2025.
