Founded in 1857, FAYARD is one of France’s oldest publishing houses. FAYARD, which also counts the imprints MAZARINE, PAUVERT and PLURIEL, has been a part of Hachette, the first book group in France, since 1958. We have a long history of publishing foreign literature, including prominent writers such as Alexandre Soljenitsyn, Vladimir Nabokov, Thomas Mann, Ismail Kadare, Patrick Süskind, Leonardo Sciascia, Isabel Allende and Bob Dylan.
Today, we focus on thought- provoking authors who are creating a new literature for our century, inventing voices and remodeling old literary genres to tell the story of an Internet-driven world, haunted by shifting identity politics and millennial Unheimlichkeit.
