For over 43 years, Faksimile Verlag, founded in Lucerne, has been dedicated to the high-quality reproduction of medieval illuminated manuscripts. Since 2017, the company has been successfully led by Charlotte Kramer, who has united two of the world's oldest facsimile publishers – Faksimile Verlag and Müller & Schindler – under one roof.
At the heart of the publisher's work is the merging of the programs of both traditional houses in the interest of science and research. The publishing house offers a broad portfolio to lovers of medieval art as well as scholars. Thanks to the highest standards of reproduction quality, craftsmanship, and scientific preparation, the masterpieces of the Middle Ages are made accessible in a modern form.
A particular highlight in recent years has been the facsimile editions of Leonardo da Vinci's Paris Notebooks (Manuscripts A-M), produced in cooperation with the Institut de France. The first two series of notebooks are already available, offering a unique insight into the genius of the Renaissance.
As part of the Universal Art Group, Faksimile Verlag strengthens its position in the art and facsimile sector. Additionally, the affiliation with a larger network of art and culture specialists opens up new opportunities to further expand and share the heritage and expertise of the publishing house.
