Pinard is a Brazilian publishing house founded in 2020 with the goal of bringing to the our market significant Latin American authors and landmark literary works that have not yet been translated into Portuguese or whose editions are currently unavailable in Brazil. Its main mission is to diversify the publishing landscape by bringing books with highly relevant content for today’s world, presented in high-quality editions designed for the reader’s comfort and enjoyment.
aThroughout its first years, Pinard has built a catalog that brings together some of the most powerful voices in Latin American literature, such as Augusto Roa Bastos, with I, the Supreme, considered one of the great novels of the twentieth century; Miguel Ángel Asturias, with Men of Maize, a foundational work of magical realism and Indigenous literature; Carlos Fuentes, with The Death of Artemio Cruz, an essential classic of Mexican narrative; Rómulo Gallegos, with Doña Bárbara; and Jorge Icaza, with Huasipungo, two key novels for understanding the social and political tensions of Latin America.
Among its upcoming releases are emblematic works of twentieth-century Latin American literature, such as Paradiso by José Lezama Lima, Three Trapped Tigers by Guillermo Cabrera Infante, and On Heroes and Tombs by Ernesto Sabato, among others. Each of these books reflects the publisher’s commitment to preserving and disseminating the essential works of our continent, always through careful and respectful editorial work toward both authors and readers.
