The Bulgarian Book Association (BBA) was established in 1994 and is the only organization representing publishers, booksellers and literary agents in Bulgaria, with more than 140 members responsible for over 90% of book publishing and distribution in the country. The mission of the Association is to contribute to the development of book publishing in line with European practices and laws, the access to culture and to the development of reading in the country.

Every year the BBA organizes more than 10 events, campaigns and literary forums in Sofia, in the country and abroad. An important priority of the Association is the promotion of reading among children and young people - dedicated to this are the National Campaign to Promote Children's Reading "The March of Books" and the Sofia International Literary Festival for Children and Young Adults. The Spring Book Fair, the Book Alley in different cities in Bulgaria and the Sofia International Book Fair are already a traditional part of the event calendar of both the Association and many metropolitans.

The Bulgarian Book Association is a member of the Federation of European Publishers, the European and International Booksellers Federation and the International Publishers Association.
