The agency was founded by principal agent Alex Adsett, a publishing professional with close to 30 years’ experience working in the publishing industry in Australia and UK. Alex has managed AAL since 2008, and represents more than 50 exceptional authors and illustrators across Adult, YA and children’s, graphic novels and non-fiction. She is passionate about promoting First Nations Australian authors, and great commercial fiction especially genre. Her authors include Bundjalung author Melissa Lucashenko, winner of the Miles Franklin (Australia’s most celebrated literary prize), award winning crime authors Dinuka McKenzie, Petronella McGovern and Michael Trant, and rom com author Jodi McAlister. In YA, Alex represents multi award winning YA authors such as Lisa Fuller, Isobelle Carmody, and Amy Doak. In picture books, AAL represents the CBCA winning illustrator Hannah Sommerville, Environment Award winning Giant and the Sea, and Trent Jamieson's graphic novel series Frog, Dog and Log.  AAL includes three agents, Rochelle Fernandez, Abigail Nathan, and LIsa Fuller, our RIghts Manager Kabita Dhara and in 2022 acquired the distinguished children’s agency The Authors’ Agent.
